Santa’s jacket!

This next one is a knitting number. It’s a standalone garlands and, if you are a keen knitter I reckon you could knit this set a lot quicker than me, if you want to make your own! I’ve mentioned before that I learned to little when I was a child, and I wasn’t the best! I’ve dabbled with it over the years, but recently I have been getting steadily more and more addicted….

I love a chunky knit - see my Lauren Aston Designs obsession begin in this blog post - but I’ve also made a lot of smaller knits with teeny tiny needles. This project was with the latter, so a LOT of patience was required! BUT I learned LOADS - lots of new knitting abbreviations that took a few (that’s an under exaggeration…) to get right but was so satisfying when I did. And now when I look at my finished Santa’s washing line, that’s what I feel - a wee bit chuffed!

Anyway, enough of me rambling on - what did I actually make!?

Santa’s pants! I can’t cope!

The Santa’s Washing Line pattern was a Christmas present, but I am pretty sure that you can buy a download of the pattern from lots of places including eBay for a couple of quid. I would say it’s an Intermediate to advanced pattern (I am def just an intermediate!!) as there are a few fiddly stitches. Some of the stitches that I learned was a Knit one Purl one (or Moss Stitch) across a knitting row. A couple of YouTube videos later and I had mastered it and the effects were great.

All you need are 4mm knitting needles, white, red and black wool, and a tapestry needle. Oh, and that little thing called patience that I mentioned earlier ;)

And here’s the finished product! You make his jacket, hat, underpants (which were my fav), mittens and also socks but I haven’t got to them this year….

His little gloves (let’s pretend I didn’t run out of wool and that these are the same red….)

I then used a leftover piece of chunky white wool and pegged the pieces on - you can sew them on if you want but I like the idea of being able to play around with mine.

Whatcha reckon? If we go into a further lockdown next year, I know what everyone is getting for Christmas presents 2021!!

And his trousers, of course
