Knitted Christmas Tree Garland

Hello poppets,

Here’s the next in my Handmade Christmas Decorations blogs! If you’ve made it this far a) well done and b) thank you! It’s been really fun to share them with you, so it’s a bit of a selfish one really ;)

Recently I’ve gotten back into knitting and often the chunky kind! However, I’m still a fan of the fiddly kind, too. I love knitting as something to do to “keep my hands busy” as my Grandma always used to say. This knit is simple and easy - perfect for whilst you’re watching telly.

So, what is it? It’s a knitted Christmas tree garland of course! This cheeky knit can be used to make a garland decoration or you can simply make individual ones as separate Christmas tree decs.

The knitting pattern is uses just your standard knit stitch and as long as you can cast on, add stitches and knit two together, you’ll be fine!

Instructions:

Cast on 21 stitches.

Knit 19 stitches, knit 2 together. Keep doing this until you are left with 8 stitches.

Cast on another 5 stitches.

Knit all 13 stitches and cast on another 5 stitches.

Knit across the row until the final two stitches and then knit t2 together.

Continue until you are left with 6 stitches.

Cast on another 3 stitches.

Knit all 9 stitches and cast on another 3 stitches.

Knit across the row until the final two stitches and then knit t2 together.

Keep going until you are down to the last stitch and cast off!

And you’re done! I like alternating red and white, and then crotchet a lot string to attach them to. Or you could plait thinner wool or just use a chunky knit as the string.

As easy as that! Hope you enjoy this simple knitting pattern :)
