Custom Lampshade - Christian Lacroix feather fabric

I’m here to share the joy - the crafty joy that is! And today that is making bespoke orders for my customers - one of my favourite parts of A Crafty Den. This special customer wanted me to make a Copper interior lampshade - perfect for those wanting a bit of metallic joy in their lives. If you didn’t know already, bespoke lampshades are where a customer sends me the fabric of their choice and I transform this into a ceiling lampshade or table lampshade of the size they choose!

It’s really important to me to get the bespoke lampshades perfect for my customers. They take the time to choose the fabric, and they know exactly how it will look in its final home - they often have a vision of how it will look. I worked closely with my lovely customer with this fantastic Christian Lacroix fabric; she is clearly a designer with an amazing eye for interior design and it was such a pleasure to work with her.

We discussed the height of the lampshade and decided on a 30cm height - this is taller than the standard 30cm diameter lampshade which I normally make (at 24cm high) but with such an amazing fabric, it’s a shame not to show it off! The copper interior adds a real warmth to the lampshade when it is lit up. The lampshade is for a floor standing lamp. We worked on the positioning of the fabric to showcase the mauve, turquoise, green and white shades across the feathers. I just love the way that the pattern sweeps around the lampshade - perfect elegance.
